History:
Born in Glasgow Scotland to a Half-blooded Mother and a Pure-blooded father. His early childhood was fairly normal, though a bit isolated due to a over protected mother. Even from a early age, it appeared that young Robert possessed a superior wit for his age. Despite the reservations of his mother, and young Lawsons own protests he was enrolled at Hogwarts when he turned eleven. Arrival at Hogwarts was a strange and difficult transition for young Lawson, given he'd never been away from his parents before, During the sorting ceremony he was placed with Ravenclaw, just as his father had been many years before. This comforted him to some extent, given the stories his father had told him over the many years. Despite some difficulties he slowly began to adjust to Hogwarts and dedicated himself to his studies. In time he grew to befriend a few fellow Ravenclaw Students but there was hardly exceptional about him during his first year. By his second year, his grades began to improve gradually on subjects, while sharply on others. Despite the sub-standard History Class, Lawson excelled in this class, mostly due to the fact he studied History outside of Class instead of relying solely on Professor Binns. His curioisty causes him to seek knowledge on advanced subjects beyond his age, or beyond the teaching of Hogwarts, this will become a problem for him in later years.
Eventually he proves to be an excellent student in certain subjects, and eventually he makes the Ravenclaw Quidditch team, making Captain in his later years. Though a good student, his personality and grades attracted the abuse from other students, mainly Slytherin. For the most part Lawson avoided students from the other houses, but the taunting caught up with him nevertheless and he was disciplined on six separate occasions for brawling. His fellow Ravenclaw Student Marcus Barclay was one of his best friends, but had a curiosity with the Dark Arts. Given Lawsons passion for knowledge, this eventually lead him into seekingout knoweldge regarding the Dark Arts. The pair even made friends with a few Slytherin students who'd given them a warm reception after learning of their interest. Eventually this would lead Lawson to join a secret 'fraternity' that was in reality the early beginings of Lord Voldemorts Death Eaters. By joining it had the dual effect of giving him the knowledge he sought, and lessened the abuse from the Slytherin Students who accepted him more so.
Graduating in 1981 Lawson continued his studies into the Dark Arts, though slowly he began to learn as to what the Death Eaters were really about, and the threat they posed. Despite his growing doubts, he remains with them to learn more. By the time the first war broke out, Lawson had distanced himself to some extent from the Death Eaters. Living in London he'd fallen for a Muggle Woman, Named Natalie Parish. But the past soon caught up with him, when three Death Eaters arrived at their home on March first, 1981. A wand battle ensued and Lawson dispatched one of the Death Eaters with the Killing curse, and gravely wounded another with the Sectumsempra curse. The survivors fled, but Natalie had been killed during the exchange. On top of that, he soon learned he was among the Death Eaters on the Ministries Most Wanted List. Leaving the majority of his personal belonging to his parents, Lawson went not into hiding, but on the run as part of his own personal war against those who'd robbed him of his love. Over the next six months he evaded auror's while he hunted down and killed the two surviving Death Eaters who'd been involved in Natelies death, but it didn't end there. The Rage, the Bloodlust had engulfed him as he blamed Voldemort and his Death Eaters for the loss of his entire life, turning their own Dark Arts against them he dispatched two more Death Eaters in brutal if not bloody fashion before Voldemort fell. After the Dark Lord Vanished, The Death Eaters went into hiding, but Lawson continued his hunt for another five years, killing an additonal five Death Eaters before finally being captured by an Auror.
Lawson stood trial before the Wizarding Court, Many Death Eaters had escaped by claiming they'd been under the influnce of the Imperius curse, but not Lawson. He admited he'd joined the Death Eaters during its early days to explore the Dark Arts as a learning tool, but that he refused to take part in in Voldemorts War. The primary concern wasn't so much that he was a Death Eater but the fact that he'd killed Death Eaters in a brutal fashion, some feared for the safety of the wizarding world. Behind the scenes, his father Henry was pulling strings and Lawson was sentenced to a five year probationary period. Returning to Glasgow he turned into some what of a hermit for the first three years, but later he tried to rebuild his life and clear his name as a passion for teaching had started to over come him. Despite his best efforts, his past haunted continued to haunt him. After his probationary period ended he applied for the Position of Defence Against the Dark Arts, however he was passed over in favor of Quirinus Quirrell who ironiclly turned out to be posessed by Lord Voldemort. In an attempt to further imrpove his image, he was able to find a job with the Department of Magical Enforcement, under the Magical Law Enforcement Squad department. His job was primarily a desk job but it certainly helped ease the minds of many people.
After three years of service, he again applies for the DADA position only to be passed over a second time in favor of who they believed to be Alastor Moody, who was actually Barty Crouch Jr in disguise. By this point the rumors of Voldemorts return were spreading through the Wizarding world, and of couse denied by the Ministry though Lawson himself believed the evidence that Head Master Dumbledore had put forth, After Dolores Umbridge was selected for the DADA Post, Lawson left the Ministry in disgust and half wondered if Voldemort had cursed him. Before his removal as Head Master, Lawson traveled to Hogwarts to speak with him. It was of Lawsons opinion that if Voldemort had indeed returned, that someone with his certain talent for hunting Death Eaters would be much needed, given that it seemed as there was no other use for him. They discuss the matter, but nothing comes of it for the moment.
With the mass breakout of Death Eaters from Azkaban, Lawson is tempted to return to the hunt as a renegade but for the time he resists. After the battle of the Department of Mysteries and the undeniable evidence that Voldemort had returned, Lawson is contacted by a member of the Order of the Phoenix, and is eventually welcomed as an offical member in late 1996. For the most part his activities remain low key until August of 1997 when Voldemort overpowers the ministry and takes control. The begining of this Dark Time means many of the Order Students, including Lawson who resists going out as a lone wolf remain on the run until a plan of action can be formulated. In the end if all comes down to the Second Battle of Hogwarts in which Voldemort and his Death Eaters assault the Castle, which Lawson is present for. During the Battle he proves himself as a valuable asset in the defense of Hogwarts, though is injured during the battle.
After Voldemorts was defeated, Lawson with his talents was accepted as an Auror to hunt down surviving death eaters, this would be a position he'd hold for eight years, and in that eight years he tracked down and captured/killed four Death Eaters before resigning from the position. Once again he applies for a position at Hogwarts, though the DADA position was filled he's accepted as the Transfiguration Professor, with hope that he may someday take a more favorable classroom.
Role-play Sample: "Transfiguration Professor.. Transfiguration Professor.. bah!" Lawson muttered, pacing about his living room after he'd been notified that he'd been accepted. "Its alright, but it's not Defense Against the Dark Arts, or or.. Potions class or Blimey History Class!" He shook his head, waving the letter around. He was glad he'd finally been accepted into a teaching position, but Transfiguration was by far not his preferred teaching subject. "You think they're worried I might Kedavra one of the darling Students Fred?"
Indeed, he was talking to his Tri-colored Basset Hound Fred. "Its ridicules! They couldn't pick a good DADA Professor if their lives depended on it! I mean.. Look who they passed me over for, Voldemort for petes sake!" he shook his head with a heavy sigh, "But I did apply for it.. They should get Professor Binns ghostly arse out of the History Class and get a REAL Professor, the Students are graduating with out a clue on Wizarding History! Gawd Blimey.. Its absurd Fred.. totally.." Trailing off he looked again at the letter, then grinned. "BUT... I'm a Professor now! woohoo!" He exclaimed, jumping up and clicking his heels. "I'm a professor! finally! after trials and tribulations I'm a teacher!" he continued dancing about the room, obviously overjoyed. "And when someone leaves, I'll get a better class room I promise you!"
