Name: Jared Turner
Age: 26
Height: 5'9"
Eyes: Brown
Skin: fair white, kinda rough but not too bad, a few scars here or there.
Hair: Blond
Description/Picture: See siggy! Or any pic of Dominic (Dom) Monaghan.
Occupation: Divination Professor
Spouse: None
Children: None
Wand: 10" ebony, strand of unicorn hair
Pet: 5-yr-old ball python named Mystic (w00t! huge snake by now!)
Abilities: Reading the stars to see the future...teaching astronomy/divination, seeing as he has experience in both. has third eye
Personality: hm...how to describe. He can be quite out there at times but can also be down to earth. He can be wacky and joke around, which he tends to do a lot, but if he really wants to or wants to impress someone or seem authoritative, he can be serious. Also, when someone confronts him about something he did wrong, he takes it quite hard.
Skills: Astronomy, Divination
History: Jared came from your average wizarding family, not too well-known, but not completely unknown. His mother had the third eye and he inherited it as well but didn't really learn of it until he reached Hogwarts, as his mother died when he was five after giving birth to his sister and brother, Pamela and Joseph, twins. His father raised the three of them well, bringing them up to express themselves however they saw fit.
He got his letter to Hogwarts when he turned 11 and of course, accepted and went to the school. His schooling years were quite uneventful. He showed a promising talent in divination and later in astronomy. However, he dropped divination as Trelawny's constant --false-- predictions of deaths on students began to annoy him. Trelawny never understood why he dropped the class; he was too kind to break it to the old bat that her classes weren't taken seriously by anyone, especially someone who actually had the eye. He often wondered why Dumbledore had hired her for the job, but he supposed to someone who didn't know, it was hard to tell a fraud from the real thing.
He was very enthusiastic when he heard Harry Potter was coming in his fifth year at the school, but he was also weirded out. The-boy-who-lived coming there? It was all so strange, but nevertheless, he was disappointed when Potter ended up in Gryffindor instead of Hufflepuff.
After graduating, he had a variety of odd jobs -- working at Dervish & Banges, Zonko's, The Three Broomsticks, the list goes on: in short, anything that would bring in the money.
When he was 22, he was offered the job as astronomy teacher when Sinestra retired and needless to say, he accepted. He'd always loved the class, and how hard could teaching be, after all? So, he enthusiastically accepted it, a chance at a steady job that he could use to support himself. He could always work at some odd jobs over the summer.
So, he pretty much settled into the teaching life after a few years of teaching. He likes the quirks it has with the students. They seem to think he's rather strange and a pushover at first, but they soon learn that he's fun but with a serious side if you push his buttons or try to misbehave.
When Hermione came and took over Astronomy for some reason he's not sure of, he gladly took Divination. He'd been wanting the position all along, knowing Trelawny was a fraud, and the old bat having retired opened the position. He is now determined that he is going to revamp the reputation of Divination, prove that it's real, seeing as he is no fake. He won't make up ridiculous predictions just to keep student's attention. He'd rather not be the laughingstock for that reason...he'd rather it be for something like his humor (as it has been) or odd habits (such as masking taping his fingers...never could give that up).
