Name: Tom Marvolo Riddle
Other Names: Lord Voldemort, you-know-who, he-who-must-not-be-named, the dark lord
Age: 72
Eyes: Red
Skin: Clammy
Hair: Bald
Description/Picture: See sig/avie when I get them up
He is tall and foreboding. He holds himself in an authoritative manner. He rarely has a smile or amused look on his face, never allows himself to before those that are lower than himself. Just one look and you can know when he is not pleased.
Occupation: erm...being the Dark Lord
Spouse: None
Children: None
Wand: yew wood, 13 1/2" long, core has one of Fawkes' feathers
Pet: Nagini, snake
Abilities: Parselmouth
Personality: Authoritative, to-the-point, foreboding, no nonsense
Voldemort is not what one would call cheery. He is far from that. He likes the feeling of being in charge, and that is exactly what he makes sure happens. He fools his followers into believing themselves his closest, most trusted friends, but in reality he has none. He finds having friends foolish and a waste of time, for to him it can only get in his way during the fulfillment of a plot. He also finds love petty and foolish, that it is a character flaw to love, for to love is to die to one's self, and that is something he does not wish to do, for nothing, in his opinion, is worse than death of one sort or another. It doesn't help that he's never had anyone love him.
He is not trusting. He takes every declaration of loyalty at an arms-length, especially since he had a spy within the Order's ranks, so he wouldn't put it past them to attempt a spy in his ranks, though to do so would be foolish as skilled as he is at Legilimins, unless the person is skilled in Occlumency.
Skills: Legilimens, Occlumency, Dark Arts
History: He was born to a muggle father and a witch, who died after his birth. He went to Hogwarts in 1938 and was sorted to Slytherin. With his close friends, he started using the name Voldemort, hoping it would one day be widely feared. He learned of the Chamber of Secrets and sealed it so that only his true heir could unseal it and unleash the horror within.
In his last year, Tom was prefect, head boy, and received a Medal for Magical Merit. After leaving school, Riddle took revenge on his father and killed him.
After this, he disappeared for a while, studying deeply the Dark Arts and consorted with the worst witches and wizards in a quest for power and immortality. When he came back, he went by "Lord Voldemort" and few recognized him as Tom Riddle.
In the 1970s he began to gather a following. Many joined him, calling themselves "Death Eaters." They freely used the three Unforgivable curses on those who defied them. They had the Dark Mark burned into their left inner forearms by Voldemort.
Giants and many witches and wizards sided with him and the worst muggle killing ensued. The only safe place was at Hogwarts because Voldemort feared Dumbledore.
At the height of his power in 1979, he learned of a prophecy made about him. He decided to find and kill the child mentioned in it.
Harry Potter was born shortly after and after three times of escape, Voldemort killed Lily and James Potter, but Harry was protected by his parents, and he could not kill him, but instead the curse rebounded upon Voldemort, ripping him from his body, powers gone, barely alive. He fled. Many Death Eaters were tried by the Wizengamot and sentenced to Azkaban.
In 1991, he returned, by joining with Professor Quirrell, searching for the Sourcerers Stone so he could get the elixer of life. Harry managede to hold Quirrell off and Dumbledore arrived, but Voldemort fled, leaving Quirrell to die.
He returned to his forest home in Albania and faced his darkest hour there. His diary in which he had preserved the "memory" of his "16-year-old self" was planted by Lucius Malfoy into Ginny Weasley's books, and through her he learned of Harry's defeat of himself. However, once again, Harry thwarted his rise to power.
You all know of the events of book three concerning Pettigrew.
Nearly three years ago, he returned to his body with the aid of Wormtail, and tried to kill Harry, but Harry managed to fight him back, their wands having shared the same core and produced Priori Incantatum.
Five years ago, he found that Harry could see what he was thinking and started practicing Occlumency against him. It culminated in the end with a duel with Dumbledore, which he retreated from.
Four years ago, he had Draco Malfoy working on killing Dumbledore, but in the end it ended up being Snape who killed him. Voldemort wasn't pleased with Draco, to say the least, or Snape for that matter, but at least the job was gone.
Harry, Ron, and Hermione succeeded in destroying all his horcruxes except the one he left laying deep in a vault in Gringott's, in his opinion an obvious spot that would take no more than a fool to be found.
His dying words after the final blow was dealt to him were to his Death Eaters in a guarded way of speaking, "There is yet another. Great riches, seek where such can be found."
Now, Draco Malfoy is working on reviving him, and soon, a new war will disrupt this sense of peace that has lulled all who now live.
