10:30 p.m.
It was late. Even an unfocused glance at the clock revealed that. Katya and Layla had been missing for thirty-six hours. Every second that ticked was a second further away, a second more lost with them, a second more likely they were dead--at least, according to the Lead Investigator. The fact the man had said that was almost enough for Trevor to fire him. He refused to believe his girls could be dead. They were alive. They had to be.
The sound of a sharp chime made Trevor jump in his seat before he realized what it was. Julia...
He'd wondered how long before this day would come. After all, after his meeting with Wilkinson months ago, he had known she was working against him. The strangest part was she hadn't made any super suspicious moves, and no divination shop had been riddled with owls addressed to her. It was so strange. Even more strange was a lack of information regarding his daughters.... And now this. She knew. She had to know that yesterday they had never shown up at the train station in Diagon Alley, that they had never arrived home. The papers were abuzz with distraught photographs of him and pictures of the three of them obtained over the summer from paparazzi stock photos. Why hadn't she come to him? Never mind. He knew the answer to that.
He had to go to her. He had to go to her now and glean information. But no... If he went now, he would kill her. Someone else had to go, someone he could trust, but who? Sienna? No. He wanted to keep her out of the crossfire for now. She had her own things she was busy with. Teague? Yes, Teague.
Trevor stood, walking over to his office near the front of the house and sat, scrawling a letter.
Teague,
I know this isn't your usual line of work, but I need you now. Julia Porter, the seer I've been keeping in the hut on Puxley grounds, has had visions regarding my girls. Months ago, I had a meeting with a certain Kristof Wilkinson regarding such a vision. She had knowledge they would be kidnapped, yet she hardly provided me with any real information. In the meeting I had with Wilkinson, he showed me a memory from one of his contacts. She was in a room in the Leaky Cauldron with an Order member. She's working against us, and now she is trying to escape. Just now, she tried to disable her locator necklace. I need to know why, and I need to know what she knows. I need to know if she knows anything more about my girls.
I want you to go there now, Teague, unannounced. I want you to do whatever it takes to get information. Scare her. I don't care what you do! Do whatever it takes. Just get the information. Find out what she knows about my daughters.
