Oh, I'll be glad when this shift is finally over. What is it now? Ten more hours on-call and then I'm off? Oh, who cares! I'm done when I'm done. I'm so tired I can barely think straight at the moment. I guess that's the one thing I'm not too fond of with this job. I worry that I'm going to mess up in judgment the longer I go without adequate sleep. I lay down everytime I get a chance in my little room here at the hospital, but it's not so easy to sleep here as it is at my own flat, but when I'm so tired, it's so easy to conk out the moment my head hits the stiff pillow.
Hmm...pretty calm today, so I've had a spot more sleep than usual, but I just want to go home, take a nice, long, warm shower, feel like I look at least halfway decent, and then take a nice little nap. In fact, I think I'll do just that and set my alarm clock for about half an hour later. Then, I'll get up and go out to Diagon Alley or something, maybe stop by and visit friends and such. Haven't seen them since forever and a day ago.
After this shift, one more shift before they let me know what they've decided as far as my plea to be placed in maternity or pediatrics. I was trained in both areas, so it should be no problem. Oh, just let it be maternity in the nursery! All those cute, little babies! Of course, when you take care of them twenty-four/seven (or close to it!), you probably get your fill. Doesn't matter. Whatever happens happens. Just so long as I'm not moved from emergency to the ICU, I think I'll be happy.
Oh, but now, more sleep sounds great. Who cares about the rest of this stuff?
