TRAITS:
Quin is careful, calm, and tactical. He likes to be informed before making any sort of decision. He is rather quiet and has a somewhat ethereal air about him. This is amplified by his misty grey eyes, which often appear to be staring beyond and off into space. It is a rare sight to see him outside of his calm and quiet demeanor. While he may seem passive outwardly, it really isn't so. He doesn't let anyone else walk all over him, use him, or get away with things he dislikes.
While Quin is nice enough of a person and rarely goes out of his way to insult or belittle others, he can often come across as cold. He shows very little empathy for others and is generally only concerned about himself. He does have a sense of loyalty, however, to those who have managed to get close to him or earned his respect (neither of which is particularly easy to do).
Recent events and stress, however have left Quin slightly more agitated and desperate. His need for control over the direction of his life clashes with the current state of the chaotic wizarding world. The constant stress he has put himself under has made it difficult for him to predict the future by natural means. He wants life to return to it's former stability so that he can once again predict the future with ease and adapt to it. However this requires him to know the future now and adjust to it. Desperate times call for desperate measures.
FAMILY:
HISTORY:
Quintos Prynne is the great-grandson of the famed Seer Adrastus Prynne. Upon his death bed, Adrastus foretold that there would not be another Seer in his bloodline for another 2 generations, and would be bestowed upon only the 5th born of that third generation. Adrastus' son only had one son himself before dying himself, which left the prophecy to be fulfilled by that one son, Genesis. Genesis quickly married and had five children in order to "fulfill" the prophecy. Whether this was a self-fulfillment of the prophecy is beside the point as their 5th born child, named Quintos for that very reason, did indeed obtain the gift of future sight.
At first, Quin, as he preferred to be called, only foresaw the future in dreams. Initially he was scared of his powers, but in time came to love them. His four siblings, however, hated both him and his powers. They were in part jealous of the importance and attention his parents gave him and felt like used goods and a means to an end. Admittedly, that's all they really were to Quin's parents, as the only one they really cared about was him.
Upon arriving at Hogwarts, he was sorted into Slytherin, just as he had known and predicted. His time at Hogwarts was relatively average aside from his obvious excellence in the realm of divination. After Hogwarts, he used his powers to make several successful financial ventures and earned a small fortune.
Quintos predicted and knew of the attack upon Hogwarts and the return of the Death Eaters long before it happened. He wasn't at all compelled to do anything because, for one, changing the future was often futile, and also because he intended on taking advantage of the situation. He warned his siblings not not get involved with the coming war, but only his brother Quaddain heeded his advise. The other three were caught up in a raid, trying to aid the resistance. His brother Unus was killed and Duon captured. The fate of his sister Triana is still unknown. Quin felt no remorse over this: after all, he did warn them.
As for Quin himself, he joined up with the regime who were glad to have someone with his talents on their side. He rose through the ranks as he successfully planned and implemented many successful raids. His feats became known to Lord Williams himself, who gave him the job of Divination Professor at the new pureblood Hogwarts and a position among the Death Eaters as an adviser to the regime. His time living the good life would not last long though. He foresaw the gruesome and bloody murders of Hogwarts (of which he believed he would have been a victim), the abdication of Williams, and just the general chaos and foreboding aura descending upon the wizarding world.
He decided that he would have to go into hiding to avoid all of this. He used his best judgement to decide to just lay in wait until the brewing storm had passed. Hiding was chosen over other options for several reasons. He had no experience outside the country; he had no contacts, no foreign currency, and just generally didn't care for the idea. However, he couldn't simply just step down from his positions as a Death Eater and professor at Hogwarts. There would be repercussions for his actions and people might suspect he knew something about the future and begin hounding him.
Thus Quintos faked leaving the country, leaving most everything behind as he explained in a note he left for his college. In reality Quintos assumed the identity of an older wizard he knew to be dying soon, one Chester Mason. He was an old pureblood wizard with no family and was a bit of a hermit. It was just what Quintos needed. He arrived at the Mason's home exactly the day he knew he would die and immediately assumed his identity. Quintos preferred this method to murder, since it technically wasn't illegal (outside of identity theft) and because his gift made it easily possible to find someone like this. He preserved the body and kept a large stock of polyjuice on hand.
Things were fine for the first month or so, but Mason wasn't the wealthiest of wizards and Quin had only been able to withdraw a small amount of money from Gringotts before he'd hid without looking suspicious. Forced to live well below his means, Quintos became stressed and bothered. The strain of pretending to be someone else in public on the rare occasion he needed to didn't help either. This stress has taken a toll on Quintos and has made it diffiicult for him to predict the future. Having relied on his ability for so long, he simply can't go on without using it. He does know of one way sure-fire way predict the future, but he promised himself to never use it. His abilities were above that after all. He didn't need it. Things were starting to get desperate though...
