What creates my own madness
--------------------------------------------------Phobia: Lance fears cats, though it usually only results in him yelling madly at whoever brought one around him, the nerve of that person! Above all, he fears being made to care about something or someone other than himself.
Habit: If there's one thing Lance has picked up as a habit over the years, it's smoking. Of course, he tries to hide this, but all the same.
Pet Peeve: Lance strongly dislikes being looked over for any sort of "promotion," as was the case in not being made captain of the Quidditch team 7th year. However, he also can't stand being ignored when speaking.
Personality:
Lance is a very reserved young man. He chooses his words carefully on most occasions, always wanting to keep the upperhand. He doesn't care what others say about him, but if it gets out of hand, then he will react swiftly, and the person who started the rumor likely will have no idea what hit them. He's not afraid to be spiteful or mean. He doesn't care about others' feelings and emotions. He'll either be direct and forthcoming with his cruel remarks or he'll be subtle and hint at something enough that it might make you go insane trying to figure out just what he meant. It all depends on who you are, what you did to deserve it, and the mood he's in.
Pester him, and you have a force to be reckoned with. He'll put up with a little, but after a certain point, his anger is rather uncontrollable. He can be considered at least slightly childish in some regards. After all, the way he reacts to not getting his way is, well, not exactly the maturest way of handling things. He'll scream, yell, throw things, and generally throw a tantrum. Usually he has enough sense to wait until he's alone in his own room before he'll throw it, but sometimes? Well, sometimes his anger's too overpowering.
With the ladies (or at least the ones he thinks are worthy), he's almost a completely different person. He's sweet, even charming. He's quite the gentleman: standing when a lady rises from the table, opening doors, etc. He's even been known to kiss a girl's hand. He says and does whatever it takes to get what he wants, but that certainly doesn't mean he won't ditch the girl after he has his way with her because all in all, Lance is out for one person and one person only: himself.

It is impossible to never tell the truth
--------------------------------------------------Birthplace: Bamberg, Germany
Family:
Kurt Ulrich | 49 | Pureblood | Citizen | Head of Magical Law Enforcement
Nathalie Ulrich | 40 | Halfblood | Slave
History:
Lance Christian Ulrich was born on All Hallow's Eve in the year of 1993 to parents Kurt and Nathalie Ulrich. Of course, Halloween being as big a deal as it was in the wizarding world, his father had left his very pregnant mother at home while he went out to party with some Ministry buddies. She went into labor while he was out and managed to get to the hospital with the aide of her mother, who had been frequently around since Nathalie was quickly nearing her due date. Try though a few did to get him to come to Mungo's to be with his wife, Kurt never left the party even after receiving the news.
The truth was that Kurt had only married Nathalie because it was the right thing to do when he managed to get her pregnant. Lance wasn't the most desired thing in his life at that point, so why should he be there? It was a loveless marriage and a loveless family. Growing up, the young man remembers little more than his father being the disciplinarian in his life, always pushing him to do better and be a good representation of the Ulrich family. His mother was less severe, letting the boy get away with murder if he had tried. No matter what the case, both parents spoiled him, showering their only child with gifts behind the other's back.
When he was seven, his parents moved from Bamberg, Germany to Diagon Alley due to his father's job in the Ministry. It was a change for Lance. He left only his undesirable cousins behind and no friends. His mother continued to educate him about math, English, German, and basic scientific things so that when he started school he would be well equipped. She instilled in him a love for learning, but it was his father who took it to the next step where he saw learning as a tool to manipulate things to be the way he wanted them to be.
Lance started his days at Hogwarts at age eleven just like everyone else. His mother was a sobbing wreck, which he could tell annoyed his father. He was uncertain and nervous as he approached the stool and sat upon it while Deputy Headmistress Jamie Carter placed the sorting hat upon his head. The hat debated between Ravenclaw and Slytherin but eventually chose Ravenclaw. He had no clue what any of this meant exactly. His father hadn't attended Hogwarts and neither had his mother. So, he walked over to the cheering group of students with blue and silver ties.
Over the years, he became an adept student, receiving high marks on his owls, which he had to take at some crude interim school his mother insisted he attended. He was glad when that semester was out and the reopening of Hogwarts was announced, this time only open to those over halfblood descent. The school wasn't much different, but the faces were. None of the professors from before the attacks had returned, and many of the old students no longer were there.
Of course, over that year many attacks began to surface, people and things disappearing, villages being ransacked and left to ruins. Lance thought nothing of this. The people disappearing were muggles, muggle-borns, and blood traitors. He was none of those; his family was none of those except his mother, who happened to be turned over by his father as proof of his loyalty shortly after the new government was established on February 14th. Lance had little reaction when he read about it in his father's letter to him shortly after. He could live without his mother, after all. He could live without his father, for that matter. His family meant little to him. He finished out his sixth year and his seventh year went with little worth mentioning other than he made Head Boy. Now, he prepares to head out into the real world and all the responsibilities it brings with it.
