The halls in the school were empty. The common rooms were empty. The classrooms were empty. At least, that all was the honest truth if one didn't count the professors scurrying around the Great Hall and the grounds to finish setting up for the graduation ceremony that was about to begin and the graduation party that would be taking place following. And that was the truth also, if one didn't count the seventh year students who were either in their common rooms getting ready for graduation or in each other's dorms getting ready to graduate, a few snogging sessions included in abandoned hallways, classrooms, and other places. After all, the time between twelve PM when the first through sixth years had left (aside from those who had older siblings and would simply leave to come right back) and five PM when the graduation ceremony would begin was more than enough time to get into the black robes that were adorned with the symbol of the house the student was in and any ranks the student had (Quidditch Captain, Prefect, Head Girl or Boy) and the black caps that bore tassels of the house colors (blue and bronze for Ravenclaw, red and gold for Gryffindor, black and yellow for Hufflepuff, and green and silver for Slytherin).
Some students were walking through the halls and visiting their old classrooms and favorite places on the grounds one last time with a sense of nostalgia and a hint of sentiment to them. Others were splitting a few firewhiskeys or butterbeers with their friends and having mini parties of their own. Some had even gone so far as to buy each other gifts and were exchanging them. It would seem that they thought they'd never see each other again, the way others were going on. 'Remember when we did this? Remember when we did that?' Of course, the year had gone out with a big boom. Casey and Evie had seen to that. The twins weren't there to do it themselves, so someone had to take care of it, right? And who cared if anyone caught them? What? Would they give them detention? Possible with five hours between end of the school year and graduation time, but it hadn't happened. McGonagall had seen them and given them a bit of a knowing, slightly amused smirk--all the acknowledgement the lady would ever give. People would be talking about it for years to come, possibly. It had been pretty big, seeing as he and Evie had plotted it from the time NEWT testing ended a week ago til now. They'd had nothing but time aside from the small amount of wedding planning she'd managed to get him to sit through (and even at that he'd dragged either Sam or John along with him so he wasn't the only guy amongst a sea of girls, talking about bows and frilly stuff and other things).
Casey himself was in his dorm in the Ravenclaw Common Room, going through the contents of his trunk and making sure he hadn't managed to forget or lose something. He was going to stay with Sam after graduation until the wedding just to avoid any added pressure that living with Evie before the wedding might place on them from their less-than-happy fathers. His own dad wasn't entirely pleased that he was staying with his cousin instead of coming home, but he couldn't force him. He didn't plan on staying at Sam's every single minute until the wedding, though; that was for sure. He and Evie would spend plenty of time together, and he was sure most of his friends would have some sort of party at their houses so he'd probably have to attend some of those--not that he entirely minded. After all, that was what half the excitement of graduation from Hogwarts was about, right? If it wasn't, that excitement would die the second one stepped off that platform with a diploma in hand. His own mum was insisting on a party and had sent him invitations to hand out to his friends, which he'd done. His mum would manage to embarrass him somehow. Of that he was certain.
His graduation robe lay across his bed in a clear, plastic bag, his cap on top of it and beside it dress slacks and a white shirt and his tie from his uniform to wear beneath the graduation robe. His shoes were on the floor, and that was that. All he had to do was slip that all on after he finished 'making inventory' of his things and he'd be ready to leave this room. If Evie didn't slip in before he managed to get all that done, Casey would be surprised. After all, the passwords weren't there anymore for the day so friends could visit and help each other get ready with ease. About the only thing that hadn't changed? The stairs to the girls' dorms still turned into slides the moment a guy tried to step up them, not that that ever had mattered before.
With a sigh, Casey closed his trunk, fastening the latches. He'd just leave it here like any other year and it would end up neatly stacked towards the back of the foyer where he would pick it up before he left from what he understood. No big deal. He moved to his bed and sat down, glancing over at his clothes for a moment before looking around at the guys who had been his roommates for the past seven years of his life. Seemed almost strange to think he wouldn't be seeing them anymore after this except for on ocassion, but it wasn't anything major. They were his friends and those that he knew best he'd see again. In here, there wasn't the same crying that was probably going on across the way in the girls' dorms. Still, it definitely was strange to think that he had finally completed his seventh year when he could still remember going to the school for the first time. So much had happened within these walls.
