Passing through the barrier, Evie guided her cart towards the back of the engine and left it there to be boarded. Grabbing Saleel’s, her pet owl, cage and bringing it with her, she boarded the train and found an empty compartment and sat there. She let Saleel out of his cage and he flew over to her shoulder and perched himself there and closed his eyes

Serena pulled away from her anxious parents as she managed to maneuver her overly full cart around the storms of people and into the brick wall that protected the Hogwarts Express Platform: nine and three quarters. She smiled to herself and brushed a few stray pieces of hair away from her eyes as she loaded her things on to the train, only taking a small bag filled with a stack of books for the ride, a few loose sickles and knuts for the cart at lunch time, and her robes to change into when they reached the school. Of course, Liora came with her too. Liora was safe in her cage and maybe if she got an empty apartment Serena would let her tawny owl stretch its wings a bit on the journey. She smiled and boarded the train looking for a place to sit. She walked from the front of the train...full...full...full...full...she kept going on and on to the back of the train until she found a compartment with a single girl in it. Gathering her courage she opened the door timidly.
"Do you mind if I join you? All the other compartments thus far seem to be pretty full..."

Evie looked up when the compartment door slid open. She was a bit disappointed that it wasn't Fred, George, Lee, or even Oliver but she didn't show it. She smiled at the girl.
"No, of course not."
Evie sat up and took her feet off the seat across from her and as she moved, Saleel shifted his footing on her shoulder and hooted with annoyance as he was woken up from his slumber.

Serena smiled embarrassed that she had upset the bird and made the girl move. She sat down and settled herself in before producing a small pack of treats for the owl opposite her and threw it a piece to pacify its angry mood.
"Lovely bird you have there."

"Thanks." Evie smiled at the girl.
"Saleel's a big sweetie once he gets to know you," she said as she stroked the bird’s feathers; the owl took the treat and held it in his talon and cocked his head to the side, looking at the girl across from him.

Serena laughed and opened Liora's cage and watched calmly as her own owl jumped onto her hand, talons resting carefully on three of her fingers. Serena smiled and stroked the bird’s beak gently with a single finger from her free hand.
"Mine too."

Nathan had been looking for someplace to sit when he stumbled onto a compartment with two girls. He wasn't shy, but nervous. He stepped in, his kitten meowing behind him. He suddenly realized there were two large owls, and grabbed the kitten. "Hi. You mind if I come in?" he asked, standing at the door, holding Yuna tightly.

Evie looked at the boy that just walked in; he had a tiny kitten with him. She smiled and laughed a little at how close he held the cat.
"No, not at all…and don't worry about your cat; the owls wont eat it."

"That's good." Nathan nodded, doubting she was telling the truth. He continued to hold the kitten close to him as he sat down, his trunk by his feet.

Saleel shifted his weight again and stretched his wings, he hooted loudly and looked at the new arrival.
"So, you must be new here...I've never seen you around before."

"I just transferred from Owleye, in Great Britain. I'm a Sixth Year, and a Prefect." Nathan nodded, putting the kitten down gently, but with caution.

Jamie opened the door and looked in.
"Hey is there any roo- Oh, I remember you from last year, not my type of people, I'll look somewhere else."
Amie rose an eyebrow at her sister as she left and cleared her throat.
"Well, I'll finish her sentence the correct way. Is there any room here? I'm having a little trouble finding room."
