It was Christmas Eve, her first Christmas Eve alone in nineteen years...well, her life, really. Normally at this time in the evening she and Josh would be sitting down to a candlelit dinner she'd prepared for them. Then, they would exchange their gifts with each other and conclude with a rendevouz beneath the covers. As it was, this Christmas Eve she had no one but he parents, and she didn't want to bother them before tomorrow's festivities unless she got really desperate. But for now she was fine. She didn't want to risk that turning into a regular occurance. Tom was only a friend, just a friend, and it would stay that way.
Andrea heaved a heavy sigh as she reached the corner café, pushing on the door only to realize it needed to be pulled. "Wake up!" she thought to herself, shaking her head. Terrible. She hadn't done that one in months and hte only reason it had happened that time was because Chance had thought it would be funny to reverse the hinges on the office door. She rolled her eyes and nodded her, "Hello. Merry Christmas," to the waitress who'd greeted her and followed her to a table, nodding again when she asked if the table was ok. Taking the small menu, Andy couldn't help but wonder how it couldn't be. After all, now that she was seated, the chair across from her was the only empty one in the place. She wondered passively whether or not they would seat someone across from her or not. Wouldn't bother her so long as the person was respectful and not obnoxious.
With a sigh, she settled down in her chair, habitually glancing around to take in her surroundings before looking to her menu only to be interrupted when....
