December 20
The battle last night had been successful in Trevor's mind. He had killed Derrin and no one had seen him in the moments following as he worked to revive Morgana. The kid he'd killed, a sixth or so year, hadn't mattered in the grand scheme of things, and he felt confident that in the ensuing chaos no one would care he hadn't finished Evie off. Their leader was dead, and they would want to find out who. The easy one to peg it on would be Winslow, but first he had to get in contact with Evie dearest. She still had a part to play for him, and if she wouldn't, all hell would break loose on her husband. He guaranteed it. He would have a bounty on his head and plenty of Death Eaters eager to fulfill it. Bye-bye, Winslow. About time, too. Voldemort had wanted him dead how many years ago now yet the man had evaded death for so long. Well, his lucky streak would be over soon unless his wife would be willing to work with Trevor after everything that had happened. Call it a test of the limits of her love for her beloved husband. He wasn't certain whether she'd fail it or pass with flying colors. He was rooting for her this time around.
But all that was stuff to worry about at a later date. First, he had to establish order and start not only a search for Derrin's killer but also a plan of attack for where to go from here. The attacks on both the school and the Minstry had been successful. If they acted now, they could have the Ministry. It would be a great gain in their plight. That was his first priority. Second was ridding them of Callid. That man was a danger to everything he, Morgana, Amie, and partly Masters had worked so hard to achieve. He had enough allies he didn't feel he would suffer too much by the revelation that it had been he who had killed Derrin. He could always peg Callid, frame him, if Evie went along with his plan so that if she failed to kill him it would leak out and the others would go after him. Of course, Callid could turn around and point fingers at him, causing confusion, but I could point out that whatever the case, we had to keep forward if we were to win and I was the one with a plan, not he. Naturally, it could end up most of the others wouldn't care about Derrin's death in which case Trevor'd have yet another back up plan. A vicious cycle but necessary. One couldn't be too careful in this business.
With a sigh Trevor stood from his bed, walking off towards his bathroom and stripping off his pajama bottoms and underwear before stepping into the shower and turning on the water, waiting for it to heat up before pulling the tab to turn on the showerhead, giving a bit of a jump when the first bit of it came out freezing cold, but afterwards felt rather relaxing. The last bit of relaxation he'd get for the entire day, he feared. Once he got to the Malfoy mansion, he wasn't sure what to expect after gathering everybody. They could either be agreed in the course of action and out of there in less than an hour or they could be stuck in there for hours on end discussing a course of action. And of course, if Callid chose to make a scene, then, they could be there even longer, but he trusted the man was more tactful than that. He'd be more calculated and probably crueler as well, but Trevor wasn't going to think about that right now as he ran the shampoo through his hair, lathering it before rinsing it out. If only getting rid of the threats he felt over his head was so easy. He'd have not a worry and everything would be smooth sailing from here on out, but now he had to worry not only about the Order foiling their plans but also about Callid ruining them, and there were about half a dozen Death Eaters in the group he didn't know too well. He didn't and couldn't trust anyone. It was a mess.
This whole thing would be so much simpler if he could simply trust people, but trusting people was a mistake in this business, and he had learned that and thankfully not the hard way. It was going to stay that way, too. He knew he couldn't trust Amie after she had his kid without even telling him and tried to hide her from him despite knowing his past, which he believed she would still keep because it was in her best interest, but what if circumstances were to change and it was to become not in her best interest? The cat would be out of the bag about his past, and his image as a tough, cares only about himself type guy would be shattered and hopless to repair. Then, there was Masters. He was providing him with information from the Ministry, but he had been away so long that it was impossible for Trevor to put any trust in him. He hadn't done anything to give him reason not to, but he more or less couldn't trust him by principle. He was a possible threat and always would be no matter what he promised. Promises were oftentimes, unfortunately, made to be broken. Lastly in his top three (and probably the most important to him at this point in time) was Morgana. He had strong feelings for her. He still refused to say love despite knowing in his heart of hearts that was what it was, but the feelings were there, and they were strong. But could he truly trust her? Sure, he had something on her, a past that was less than pleasant, but could he dare tell her his past or really let her get too close? Women were treacherous. All of them had been so far in his life except for his mum, Evie, and Anna. He just couldn't fully trust Morgana, which was likely a hinderance in their relationship.
Then, there were the enemies, of which Callid was chief. He was surrounded by people he couldn't trust, and that was probably why he was hoping Evie would join in on his scheme to protect her husband. He could always trust Evie to be Evie and by that, he meant she always spoke her mind. It would make it easy for him to act like he'd need to act towards her to keep Callid's suspicion off his having any possible plans. They'd be hostile and stand-offish enough naturally to be believable. Then, it would be up to her to get close to Callid...and by close he didn't mean romantically, merely close enough to plot against him with the man so she could be close enough to kill him before she suspected. Then, after that, if she ran, it'd be sending the Death Eaters after her husband and his second enemy would be gone. Evie would be kept in check with threats towards her kids after that. If she stayed, then her husband would remain safe as well as her kids, and he'd find something else for her to do, whether it was just sit in on meetings and do little things or what. To some extent he hoped she'd report plans back to the Order, give them a challenge.
After washing his body with soap, Trevor rinsed off and then toweled off and got out, wrapping the towel around his waist as he walked over to the bathroom sink, grabbing his shaver and beginning to shave. That took a few minutes to complete, but soon he put on some aftershave and then proceeded to brush his teeth, which took about two minutes. After that, he got dressed and took a look at himself in the mirror. The black robes of the Death Eater attire looked sharp. There wasn't much else to say. He didn't often think to himself how good he looked or something nonsensical like that. Besides, even if he did, he didn't have time this morning. After he was ready, he walked out of his room and into the hallway, following it to the fork that lead to either the entry way or the living room. He turned towards the entry way and the door, walking out it and locking it. Due to the enchantments he had on his house to be overly cautious, he had to walk a ways to get to where he could apparate, but once he reached that point, he apparated to the Malfoy mansion.
As soon as he arrived, he walked in through the doorway and straight to the dining hall where he paused before the chair that Derrin used to claim, gripping his left arm as he pushed up the sleeve. The pointer and middle fingers of his right hand came to rest over the familiar black mark of a skull with a snake protruding from it, pressing down on it to call all Death Eaters to the mansion. It was only a matter of time now until everything he had waited for for the past couple months would come to be. The coup would be successful. All he had to do now was lead and get rid of Warren, and all would be well.
