Caution was normally one of the captain’s strong suits, but when he saw his boy trapped helplessly in the webbing Markus threw everything out the window and dashed over, heedless to the spiders that were probably all around them. As Markus closed in the look of dread that covered his face was quickly replaced with revulsion and then swiftly by one of horror and he froze. What the hell had the killer done? A soft plea snapped the man back into reality.
”Easy there kiddo, dad’s here. Everything’s going to be ok. I’ll get you out.”
How Markus was going to even begin to free his youngest child was still the question. Time was going to be key since Markus was fairly certain any over-zealous tugging of the silky strands would bring unwanted company. A quick inspection of the child and the wrapping around him revealed the corrosive nature of the web and it only spurred the captain to work faster. After a moment Markus realized there was no way he could safely remove his son without touching the web. He had to be careful since he didn’t know what injuries his boy had suffered… he couldn’t just simply light the stuff on fire as that would probably kill them both and no other spells were coming to mind that would be useful in a situation like this, his knife would probably get caught in the web as is but maybe if he could get the blade hot enough it could work like a very precise fire spell…
Markus mumbled a quick spell and wave his wand over the blade, which after a few moments was glowing red. The captain turned to one of the hanging strands of web to test his creation and the knife slide through the silk stand like a hot knife through butter, albeit with a little sizzle and pop. Satisfied he tucked his wand up his sleeve into the specially created holster and with a grim determination, set about freeing his boy. It was slow delicate work, and Markus took great care not to jostle the web any more than he had to and eventually he was able to get his arms around Eric (the irritating and burning sensation the web cause was pushed aside) in order to keep him somewhat stable as he cut the last of the overly thick webbing.
