It had certainly taken no time for this little event to turn into a spectacle. As the Ministers staff and security detail took up their proper places, Crane gazed upward at the towering wall and watchtower above them. Students, staffs and even House Elves were lined up peering down on them. It'd been a long time since he'd last step foot in Hogwarts, in someways it was a bitter-sweet return though. Nevertheless Walter offered a warm smile and a friendly wave to those peering down upon him. "Mr. Minister, Mr. Minister!" He could hear the cries of one reporter above all others and almost instantly his assistant cut in. "The Minister won't be taking any questions at this time!" The blonde woman said defiantly. "Hold on Miss Tylger, I think I can give a small statement." Crane said as he cut in and moved over to Forrestor. "I'm sure this visit is a surprise to many, but there are certain issues here at Hogwarts that need to be investigated personally, It's not a 'witchhunt' as the Muggles might refer to such a visit.. Just a fact finding mission, nothing more." Walter said smiling. "You can have one more question before I dash off."

Rika’s eyes hardened slightly at the riot that took place at the gates of Hogwarts. So the minister had come? Big deal. If he was anything like the Japanese minister and his officials, then it was an extremely uninteresting event. Bureaucrats. People sitting on their butts, pushing paper. Hardly interesting at all. She shrugged and focused her attention back to her work. There was a suit of armor in the foyer that needed a little polishing. Fine. Rika had dealt with armor before, she had even worn it. Though, there was a difference between European and Japanese armor. This difference, however, was depending on the design of the armor and the period it was crafted in. Armors made after the muggle samurai introduced firearms were similar to European ones. Stable, tough and -depending on how much money one had wanted to spend on it- bulletproof. At least... the bullet from a 16th century matchlock musket, muggle guns from the 21st century were, of course, a different story.
Then, when she was working on the chest plate of the armor, Rika began humming a tune. Silently first, but her voice grew a bit louder after a few seconds. Eventually she began singing the lyrics, her voice still silent. It was meant only for herself. A bit pointless, but it made work go easier. And there was one advantage, with the minister being around, people would be extremely focused on him and his activities. They would leave her in peace.
“’No reason to get excited,’ the thief, he kindly spoke, ‘There are many here among us who feel that life is but a joke. But you and I, we've been through that, and this is not our fate, So let us not talk falsely now, the hour is getting late.’”

"Hey, look, look! It's mop girl!"
"Uh, don't you mean 'rag girl,' Jeff?" Dominic replied loudly enough for Rika to hear, raising his brows, grinning and nudging his friend as though he thought he was terribly clever.
"No, D—" began Jeff matter-of-factly, which in and of itself was hilarious for Jeff, considering he was rarely serious.
"Aw, come on, you guys, let's be nice. After all.." Jennifer said, walking to be between her two friends, resting an arm around each one's shoulders as she smirked, looking from Jeff to Dom. The girl would have a bit of a mess to clean up thanks to them. They had decided upon giving the Minister a bit of a welcoming gift. Right now it was shrunk and in Jennifer's pocket. Just a bag of harmless prankster gadgets (dung bombs, a few of those harmless pop-out snake-resembling things...see? Harmless, just smelly.) set to spring out and scare him and a bit of a little love potion that they'd hopefully reduced to 'like' to avoid being killed for it that would spray in his face. However, it was more like explode in his face. The excess would probably end up on the floor and Rika would, once again, become mop girl. In case their potion didn't work as expected, they were so out the moment it sprayed. The professors wouldn't be effected, after all, but they'd be too busy and concerned about apperances to punish her too harshly, no? Who knew? Maybe the Minister would find it funny.

"Ah, yes, i had heard about that. John Kenneth wasn't it? I doubt he is here about that, but i suppose it is possible. Let us hope for all of your sakes that this is as harmless as he claims it to be." Samul said, watching the minister take in the spotlight as he always seemed to. "Your name is Kyle Camden, correct? I thought i recognized you from the ministry. I take it you're now working here?" It was nice to know he recognized some of the professors, it would make the transition a bit easier, but he couldn't help but wonder if this professor's death was why Lazerus had asked him to come. Did he want him to investigate? or perhaps to simply protect those that are left. He would need to speak to Lazerus when he had the chance and find out what was being asked of him.

So far the growing commotion over the Ministers arrival had failed to catch the attetion of Professor Lawson who was holed up in his office grading test papers. The room itself would've been silent if it hadn't been for Robert and his humming of some old song. It was then quite suddenly something brushed through Lawsons mind, something that startled him and caused him to sit up quickly. "What the?" He shook his head, trying to shake the feeling that'd just overcome him.. And there it was again, Like someone was reaching out for him, searching and trying to get into his mind. It was a familiar feeling, but one that he hadn't felt in many years. Slowly he rose to his feet, steadying himself as he rubbed the bridge of his nose. "Maybe I need a drink.." he mumbled to himself, unsure of what was happening to him.
A sudden loud rapid knock came to his door which startled him even further. "What??!!" he snapped in a agitated manner. The door cracked open, and it was a young lady staffmember of Hogwarts. "There is all sorts of craziness at the front gate Professor, You should come." Lawson frowned a bit, cocking a brow at the woman. "I'll be there in a moment.." He said calmly, still a bit disorientated. The young woman nodded before closing the door and scurrying off. "There is to much confusion." he mumbled, before grabbing his overcoat and leaving his office.

"Yes... John was a good man. Left a wife and unborn child behind as well... I would certainly hope thats not their justificaion for this... spectacle. Surely they would keep something like that a bit more low profile." Kyle had learned over the years, though, that it was never best to make assumptions and that things more often than not went against them. "At least I would hope so..."
Luckily, Samuel changed the subjects to informal pleasantries. "Right on all accounts. I remember you as well I think... at least in passing. When you get thrown about between the departments as I was you run into all sorts of people and ton of paperwork. Though I suppose I enjoyed the experience, I jumped on the chance to get out of that hecticness when a position was offered to me here."

"Excuse us," Casey said, offering each person a smile that wasn't all there. He really didn't want to think about John's death right now. He couldn't imagine how Genevieve must feel (well, actually he could since he was married himself, but all the same), but he had taken it a hard himself in a few ways. One, it reminded him of his own mortality and just how quickly it could all be over. Two, it reminded him of his family's mortality and just how quickly it could all be over. And three, most hard-hitting, John had been his friend. He had known himi since he started Hogwarts and had come to know the man fairly well. It was hard to imagine life without seeing him in passing every once in a while at the very least, but here he was, one friend less. Fatherless, too. All within the course of a few years. What more could be taken from him if something else were to happen? If Death Eaters were to return.... He had to get stronger. He had to get stronger. That was all there was to it.
After excusing them, Casey lead Evie over towards a low retaining wall near the stairs where he sat down, leaving it up to her whether or not she sat with him and snuggled or not. Right now they were in a good spot for him to catch the Minister before he went in since Jamie seemed to be missing in action. His face was serious yet sort of distant at the same time as he sat there, staring down at the ground and occasionally casting his eyes over towards the Minister, making sure he was ready to do his job once the man got near enough for him to greet him and welcome him to Hogwarts. Yeah, right. Welcome, indeed.

One more? One more?! Great. Caitlyn had two questions now that she wished to ask him, one of which could seem a bit of a dud but after her last article on Genevieve and how brave and strong a woman she was receiving so many great responses, she felt the Kenneth story was the way to go. Then again, there was the 'What do you hope to find here?' question. That could get her the answer, too. If he was here for John's murder, he could answer with 'clues to the identity of Kenneth's murderer' or something, right? Ok, so she'd go for the second one and hope for the best. "And what do you hope to find here, sir?" There it went. She almost felt like scrunching her shoulders and squinting her eyes shut like a child waiting to be hit. What if it didn't get her a desirable answer? Her boss would be all over her, but she'd asked it, and she'd have to deal with the repercussions now.

Minister Crane smiled at Forrester and promptly answered. "The truth." The answer was pure and simple, designed to give her absolutely nothing. With that the Minister and his entourage quickly moved forward, passing the reporters without another word. A security detail of five men had taken up defensive positions around the Minister, ready to intercept any threats against him whatsoever. Though his office denied the rumors about Death Eaters and other Dark Wizards causing problems, murdering people and the like, Crane had spared no security measures. The funny thing about the men was the fact that they weren't Aurors, in fact? Noone really knew where they came from or who they were, other then the fact that they were very skilled Wizards. Leading the pack however was Jennifer Tylger, who was now trying to shout over the commotion. "Please back away, there will be plenty of time for photo op's later! I promise!" The blonde woman was obviously fustrated, especially given the fact that the Headmistress or anyone for that matter had yet to show themselves really, very disrespectful it was. Nevertheless Crane continued to smile and wave warmly at the crowds as his assistant tried to find someone in charge.

Post by Kathaleen Whisper on Nov 19, 2014 0:26:24 GMT -8
Kathaleen had been enjoying peace and quiet, relaxing just outside the doors of school. Her eyes had just fluttered shut when she heard the waving of commotion and...people flooded in from every where...and they were headed this way in a large stampped, yelping she gathered her things, a quill and ink, her care of magical creatures book, and stuffed them all in her green messanger bag. Jumping up she headed for the doors at a run trying to avoid the mass moving people. "What's all this then?" She grumbled under her breath as she got inside and noticed, more teachers headed this way. Gritting her teeth she looked around for a place to hide. While she wasn't doing anything wrong yet, she was actually about to skip transfiguration and if she got caught by any teacher that wouldn't be an option. So, she hid herself in the onclove behind on of the gargoyals and tried to make herself a shadow. "Would'a helped if I'd learned that ...spell for dissappearing" she muttered under her breath and then crouched down for a wait until the coast was clear.

As the Minister's assistant stepped forward to clear the crowd of reporters away, Casey stepped forward. "Mr. Minister, welcome to Hogwarts," he called out to get his attention. "My name is Casey Winslow. I am deputy headmaster here at Hogwarts, and I was hoping I could help you. Why are you...here, exactly?" He looked past his assistant directly to the Minister himself. He was trying very hard not to allow his disdain for the Ministry or anyone associated with it in such a major way show on his face, and he was succeeding. There was hardly a trace. Honestly, he wished the Ministry would stay the hell away from the school! It and its little decrees needed to disappear before it became a superpower over the school. It pretty much always had been anyway, but given his life experiences, the Ministry was something he loathed and had loathed even as he worked for it as an auror only a few years back, but that had been of necessity.
